If you suffer from osteoarthritis, chances are you are not alone. Osteoarthritis is one of the most common forms of this disease. The pain and inflammation associated with this disease is unmistakable.

Even if you have not received an official diagnosis, you will probably be able to recognize the often painful and debilitating symptoms of this disease. Here are some of the treatment options you have as an osteoarthritis patient.

Most osteoarthritis treatment focuses on reducing inflammation, pain, and stiffness in patients. Unfortunately, most osteoarthritis treatments do not go far enough in addressing the underlying causes for the disease. Conventional treatment options may include drug therapy, surgical intervention, lifestyle management, and physical and occupational therapy.

Osteoarthritis is one of the most common forms of arthritis. It is also becoming one of the most frequently diagnosed forms of osteoarthritis. By some estimates, the frequency of diagnosis is expected to increase dramatically in the coming years. For instance, one estimate says that by the year 2030, some 70 million people will be at risk of developing osteoarthritis.

Part of this dramatic increase is that it is expected that more people will be living past the age of 65. This will put a more people at risk of developing osteoarthritis, since it affects this portion of the population more.

Although osteoarthritis indeed affects the elderly more, it is not unheard of to find diagnoses among the very young, since the disease can affect anyone who has suffered from some form of joint injury.

This can be or has been confirmed by means of x-ray. Men are more likely to sufferer from this problem by age forty-five or even younger. For women it is more likely to begin by fifty or older.
