One half of the “Opie & Anthony” radio show has been fired.
“The decision was made, and [Anthony] Cumia informed, late Thursday, July 3 after careful consideration of his racially-charged and hate-filled remarks on social media,” said Patrick Reilly, senior vice president of communications at SiriusXM, in a statement to TheWrap.
Earlier this week, Anthony went on a hate-filled Twitter rant after he says a black woman assaulted him in NYC’s Times Square when she discovered that she was in one of the pictures he had been taking.
He told his Twitter followers that the woman punched him repeatedly. He also referred to her as a “b****,” “c***,” “animal” and “savage.”
“She’s lucky I was a white legal gun owner or she’d be dead,” he tweeted.
Speaking to the New York Daily News, Cumia refused to apologize for the tweets.
“Sirius decided to cave and fire me,” Anthony wrote via Twitter after being canned by SiriusXM. “Welcome to bizarro world. Fired for s— that wasn’t even on the air & wasn’t illegal. So, who’s next?”
