Another reason why you should be especially aware of the damaging rays from the sun is rosacea. If you are prone to flushing or reddening of the face then it is likely you are suffering from rosacea and excessive sun exposure can make matters worse for you.

How can sun possibly make your condition with rosacea worse? The reason is because the blood vessels in your skin may increase and dilate when exposed to sunlight. There have been many studies that show that those who are prone to suffering from rosacea may develop persistent flushing of the skin when exposed to the sun for long periods of time. This is not to be confused with sunburn. A sunburn will go away, but rosacea will not. The first thing that you should do when you suffer from rosacea is to find a good sunscreen that you can use on your face each and every day. It is recommended that you even wear sunscreen during the winter. Even when it is cold outside, the sunlight rays can hit your face, causing a sunburn and problems with rosacea. There are many high-quality sunscreen products that you can buy and wear each day. If facial products such as creams and lotions irritate your rosacea, then look for hypoallergenic brand that you can use daily.

Check the Time

You might also want to look at your watch before you head outside each day. The most damaging sunlight occurs between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. each and every day. This is when the sunlight is the most direct and can cause you the most amount of damage. If you must go outside during this time of day, make sure that you are well protected under the shade of a tree, canopy or umbrella. You can also invest in a good-quality sun hat or bonnet that will shade your face during the hottest part of the day.

Stay Hydrated

You need to drink lots of water, especially when you suffer from rosacea. It stands to reason that when it is hot outside, and the sunlight is shining directly on you, then you will sweat more causing dehydration. When you suffer from rosacea, dryness and dehydration is a major concern. If you become dehydrated, then you will find that the skin on your face become swollen and red and irritated. If you are outside in the sun, make sure that you stay hydrated water or sports drinks that will keep dry skin at bay.
