Actress Melissa McCarthy, who got her big break starring as Megan in Bridesmaids, wasn’t prepared for seeing herself on a massive billboard promoting her latest film Tammy. McCarthy recently told Us Weekly magazine that she nearly caused a traffic accident when she saw her photo up on the billboard.
“Nobody told me they had put up a massive one,” McCarthy said. “I started completely bawling and freaking out. I slammed on my brakes, swerved and tried to pull over. Other drivers were screaming at me, and I thought, ‘Oh, God, what if they see it’s all because I’m looking at my own picture?’ I just sat there and stared at it.”
“I called Ben and he actually came to meet me. We were so dorky, we tried to do a ‘selfie’ in front of it! Some sweet girl was walking by and said, ‘Do you want me to take your picture?'”
Despite McCarthy’s excitement about the film, which is directed by her husband Ben Falcone, critics have been less than thrilled with the outcome. One reviewer, for example, wrote that the film “isn’t even a good copy of the ones that made her famous,” i.e. Bridesmaids.
