Anyone who follows Glee star Lea Michele on Twitter was surprised to read on July 4th that the actress was with child.
“Before this gets out to the media, I would like to announce to my fans that I am pregnant,” a tweet from Michele’s Twitter account read.
The announcement didn’t actually come from Michele. In fact, Lea’s Twitter account had been hacked, USA Today reports.
According to E! Online, the hacker’s tweet was retweeted more than 4,000 times in less than 30 minutes. Fueling the public’s interest in this fake tweet was the fact that she recently started dating Matthew Paetz.
Just yesterday, fellow Glee star Chris Colfer’s Twitter account was hacked while he was on a flight. The bogus tweet claimed that Colfer had been fired from the show “due to personal issues.”
Shortly after the incident, Lea made light of the fact that she was the second Glee star to have his or her Twitter account hacked in as many days.
“I was HACKED!” the 27-year-old ‘If You Say So,” Lea wrote. “Guess @chriscolfer and I should have known better than to make our passwords the names of our cats.”
