Amazon’s one-hour delivery service for Prime members has been expanded to parts of central London, it’s first non-US area, according to the UK Prime Now web page. If you are a Prime member in London, you can refer to amazon.co.uk/primenow to find out if it delivers to your postcode currently.
Since launching the offering in Manhattan December 2014, the one-hour delivery has since spread to include Baltimore, Dallas, and Miami.
The service enalbles members of Amazon’s Prime service to order selected products and receive them shipped to their address within one hour.
Prime Now is restricted to certain products, because at it’s launch, the concept was that it would be for covering expendable essentials, such as food and cleaning goods. Amazon has, however, gradually expanded the range of products that can be purchased.
The service currently offers up to 10,000 products from groceries to electronics, in 27 department categories, all stockpiled in Amazon’s local fulfilment centres.
The one-hour ordering will add £6.99 to your order, but you can also opt for delivery within a two-hour, same-day window for free, between 8am – midnight.
Amazon has said it expects to “reach all of London and additional UK cities by the end of the year.”
The Prime Now app is available on both iOS and Android devices.
